This minimal studio apartment is in a white brick 60's coop building. In keeping with the 60's architecture of the building, we placed Paul McCobb Planner Group midcentury furniture, Jacobsen chairs for form, and a George Nelson bed.

The studio was used as a live/work situation, so a large bookshelf/work area was built to hold the "office". This created a separate entry foyer, beyond which was the living area.

The foyer was dark, but added a sense of privacy, so we painted it a dark charcoal to enhance and create a distinct separation of space, adding a Paul McCobb credenza.

Beyond the intimate dark charcoal entry, the space opens up to the bright white living space. The studio was painted all white, including the floors. The view and light were great, but needed shading for privacy. We installed a sheer fiberglass fabric as sliding screens floor to ceiling, which when viewed from the outside or obliquely, appeared opaque, but viewed from inside were completely transparent, achieving privacy while retaining the view.
